Slidesgo remains one of the easiest places to find designer-made PowerPoint and Google Slides starting points, and its AI presentation maker adds a fast prompt-to-editable-PPTX route. It is a strong choice for students, teachers, and occasional presenters who value template breadth. The trade-offs are attribution and download limits on the free plan, account requirements, and the cleanup needed to make a popular template feel specific rather than generic.

How we evaluated

We evaluated two tasks: adapting an existing template for a class lecture and generating an eight-slide business briefing with AI. We checked the current official pricing and AI pages for account, download, attribution, generation, and export behavior. Criteria were template quality, narrative control, editability, licensing clarity, accessibility, and handoff. We did not independently validate vendor audience statistics.

Template workflow

Slidesgo’s core advantage is a large catalog organized by topic and visual style. A template can save hours when its slide types match the content. It can also create unnecessary work when the author selects by cover art and then forces a different narrative into decorative layouts.

Audit the template before committing: count useful slide types, identify premium assets, check the credit slide, inspect font availability, and test the file in the exact editor you will use. Delete unused decorative pages and rebuild hierarchy around the argument rather than preserving the demo content.

AI presentation maker

The official AI presentation page describes a prompt-to-deck workflow with style selection, online editing, and editable PPTX download for use in PowerPoint, Google Slides, or other compatible tools. Treat the result as a draft. Verify facts, replace generic images, shorten copy, and ensure every slide advances one clear idea.

AI is most useful for outline acceleration and variation. It is less reliable for specialized domain claims, precise data visualization, and a distinctive brand. Preserve primary sources in the prompt and add citations during editing rather than after the narrative is fixed.

Free plan and attribution

The current Slidesgo pricing page states that users must register to generate AI presentations or download templates. It also lists limited monthly AI generations and template downloads on Free, with attribution required, while Premium expands access and removes the credit requirement. Check the live terms before publishing because allowances and prices change.

Do not delete an attribution slide from a free asset simply because it looks optional. Confirm the template’s license and keep required credit visible. Teams producing client work should budget for compliant licensing rather than hiding the source.

PPTX is useful because text and objects can continue into common editors, but compatibility is not perfect. Open the export, check fonts, crop masks, charts, grouping, notes, and animations.
