Create with htmlslidesBottom line
There is no single pitch-deck template that gives founders “everything needed to raise money.” A template can structure a conversation; investors still evaluate the business, evidence, team, terms, and fit. The three free HTML patterns below support different stages and pitch settings. Each includes the slides to build, what evidence belongs there, and when a conventional PDF or PowerPoint handoff is safer.
Before choosing a template
Define stage, investor type, meeting length, confidentiality, and ask. Build an evidence ledger with each metric’s definition, period, source, owner, and status as actual, estimate, or forecast. Clarify whether logos represent paying customers, pilots, partners, or prospects. Have legal and finance advisers review fundraising disclosures and materials.
The SEC’s capital-readiness guidance recommends clarity on current financials, capitalization, amount needed, use of funds, advisers, and long-term return vision. It is general educational guidance, not legal advice or an endorsement of a deck format.
Template 1: pre-seed insight deck
Use this when evidence is mainly founder insight, problem observation, prototype learning, and early demand.
- Company purpose and round.
- Specific user and observed problem.
- Current workaround and why it fails.
- Product hypothesis and smallest demonstration.
- Why now.
- Interviews, pilots, usage, or other early evidence—with definitions.
- Bottom-up market entry point.
- Business-model hypothesis and major unknowns.
- Founder-market fit and capability gaps.
- Ask, experiments, and milestones the capital funds.
Avoid presenting a top-down market estimate as near-term revenue. Label prototypes and simulated UI. A short video fallback is safer than a demo that depends on production access.
Template 2: seed traction deck
Use this when the company can show recurring use, paid demand, or a repeatable acquisition signal.
- Purpose and investment thesis.
- Customer pain with recent evidence.
- Product workflow and value.
- Traction by cohort, segment, and period.
- Retention or repeated-use evidence.
- Go-to-market motion and acquisition economics.
- Market expansion logic.
- Competition and defensibility.
- Team and hiring plan.
- Financial assumptions, runway, risks, and ask.
Define bookings, revenue, active user, retention, and pipeline. Show sample size. A chart with a steep line is not evidence if the population changed silently.
Template 3: product-led live pitch
Use this only when interaction is central to the investment case and the presenter can control the environment.
- The user task and baseline friction.
- A measurable promise.
- Live or recorded path through one coherent task.
- Architecture or data boundary relevant to trust.
- Outcome evidence.
- Adoption and retention.
- Distribution loop.
- Economics and scalability.
- Risks, dependencies, and mitigation.
- Team, ask, and next diligence step.
Keep credentials and customer data out of the deck. Package a recorded and static fallback. The audience should understand the company even if interaction fails.
HTML implementation standard
Use semantic sections, keyboard navigation, visible focus, local assets, responsive layouts, and a print stylesheet. Keep source notes visible. The W3C presentation guidance recommends readable contrast, visual descriptions, captions, and accessible materials.
reveal.js PDF export can create a handoff from a browser deck, but inspect every page for clipping, font substitution, missing media, and exposed notes. For confidential outreach, a controlled attachment or data room may be more appropriate than a public link.
Licensing and reuse
“Free” describes price, not rights. State the template license, separate it from third-party asset licenses, and remove sample logos, quotes, and images. Do not imply that a famous company used the template unless a primary source proves it.
Pitch review checklist
Ask an investor-like reviewer to read only the titles and restate the thesis. Have finance verify every number, product verify the demo, counsel review disclosures, and a new reader identify the strongest risk. Rehearse the talk, interruptions, appendix navigation, offline path, and requested next step.
Key takeaways
Choose the pre-seed, seed, or live-product pattern based on available evidence—not aspiration. Keep the main narrative concise, preserve the diligence behind it, and use HTML only when web-native delivery adds value. No template raises capital; it can only make a well-supported opportunity easier to evaluate.
